إنني أدرك أن الإدارة التي تنظر إلى المعرض بوصفه مناسبة لجمع الإيرادات الفورية تشبه من يقرأ صفحة واحدة من كتاب ضخم ويظن أنه امتلك الحكاية كلها، فالمعرض في جوهره كائن اقتصادي حي يتنفس من علاقات ممتدة تتشكل بين العارضين والزوار وصناع القرار، وحين تُختزل هذه العلاقات في معادلة حسابية باردة، تذبل القيمة الحقيقية للحدث وتتحول أيامه إلى عداد زمني منتظر الانتهاء، ويغيب الإدراك بأن الأثر الاقتصادي الأعمق يتولّد من تراكم الثقة وبناء الجسور بين الفاعلين في السوق، وهذه الجسور تحتاج إلى زمن أطول من أيام المعرض كي تكتمل ملامحها وتؤتي ثمارها.

أما الفجوة الثانية، فتتجلى في انفصال تصميم المعرض عن وجدان الزائر، إذ تُبنى الأجنحة وفق تصورات الإدارة عن اهتمامات الجمهور دون إنصات فعلي لأسئلته وتطلعاته، فيسير الزائر في متاهة لا تعرف منطقه ولا تلمس شغفه، وحين يضيع هذا الإحساس بالاتجاه، يتحول التجول إلى عبور بارد يبحث عن مخرج، ويفقد المعرض فرصة أن يكون رحلة اكتشاف تترك أثرها في الذاكرة الاقتصادية للأفراد، فيخرج الزائر محمّلاً بانطباع عابر سرعان ما يتبخر مع أول خطوة خارج البوابة.

I see a successful exhibition as closer to an intensive university that condenses time and knowledge, and closer to an open laboratory where ideas meet funding and vision meets implementation. When management understands this meaning, it transforms from managing transient events to creating an extended impact that transcends the days of the exhibition to the memory of the economy itself. Therein lies the difference between an event that counts its visitors and an impact that counts its transformations.
